The Bodyworks Massage Center was established in December 2000 by massage therapists (now husband and wife) Jan Borell and Mary Nye. Jan was born and raised in Wilson, Kansas and in 1981 graduated from The New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in Albuquerque and had been providing therapeutic massage at various locations in the nearby resort town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia since 1985.

Mary, a native of Hagerstown, had just graduated from The Baltimore School of Massage and had also been practicing massage part-time at one of the spas in Berkeley Springs when they began The Bodyworks Massage Center with two massage rooms in the former Green Valley Health Building. They began working full time with other massage and bodywork professionals and gradually expanded to create five private treatment rooms, a relaxing waiting area, and, when Green Valley Health closed in 2003, added a 500 sq. ft. Gift & Wellness Shop to provide a local source for homeopathic remedies, herbal and vitamin supplements, meditation and reflexology supplies, aromatherapy oils and many other items often hard to find in the tri-state area.

Still a family business, we continue to be grateful for our team of six dedicated massage professionals and a friendly and professional office staff, all working together to provide the highest quality bodywork in a pleasant and relaxing environment where people can “get away from it all“ without leaving Hagerstown.

Most importantly, we are grateful for all of the many and diverse clients that we have had the privledge to work with over the years — all of whom have helped make us “one of Hagerstown’s favorite places to relax.” Everyone on our team continues to be grateful for the opportunity to provide massage and spa services to our many regular clients and loyal retail customers.
